Our History

Hephzibah Baptist Church is in Lincoln County, Georgia at the base of Graves Mountain off Highway 378.  It was constituted on September 6, 1831. Our name, Hephzibah, was a name used by God with Isaiah in Isaiah 62:4. It means “My delight is in her.”

In it’s early years, the church met in the “meetinghouse” where it was begun, calling it the Hephzibah Mountain Meetinghouse.” It isn’t known how long this building was used or if other buildings were used in subsequent years.  The present church building was dedicated September 4, 1912.

Hephzibah continues to “welcome you home” with a loving congregation who wants everyone to know the love of Christ.
